New Recipe Blog
Don't die of shock! I know I have been soooo terrible about keeping this blog updated. But I'm here to tell you about a recipe blog that my sister and I started recently. My sis had been posting weekly recipes on her family blog, but now they are all in one place with a few from me too. It's called ALMOST LIKE MOMS. JUNE
For the month of June, Kaleb played Pee-Wee Baseball and Cambree played Tee-Ball. Cory also helped Coach Kaleb's team along with one of the other dads.
Also in June, Cambree's cat, Tiger, was chased by a dog that passed by our house and he sought safety up the power pole! He spent the entire night there and most of the next day until a guy from the power company had a chance to come get him down. He had to just use a big stick to poke at him until he jumped. As soon as he landed, he ran for water! Poor lil' guy!
At the end of June and first part of July, Kaleb and Cambree also took swimming lessons at Apple Athletic Club in Idaho Falls. They had great coaches again this year and they learned a lot!

Busy, Busy, Busy!
So I've officially decided that I'm a slacker when it comes to blogging! But we've had a super busy summer, so I guess I have a good excuse! I have a million pictures I would like to post, but some of those things don't seem so exciting now that it's been a couple months since they happened! Oh well - hopefully I can get caught up when Kaleb and Cory go back to school in 10 days! Maybe our lives will slow down a little bit! AAH! I can't believe summer is almost over already! It's not fair that we had such cold, crappy weather for weeks in June that made summer begin a month late!

Crazy but True
So I have a crazy story to tell. It might end up being long, but worth reading to the end!
I have had a cold and cough for 2 1/2 weeks now. After the 2 week mark, my cough started getting worse. (This was on a Sunday.) I coughed so hard so often, that I started having pain in my chest, side and back. I decided since it seemed to be getting worse instead of better that on Monday I would go to the doctor. I left my kids with my Mom and headed to Idaho Falls. While I was driving, I started to cough really bad and it hurt, so I was trying to hold my side and cough and drive all at the same time. I ended up pulling over and stopping until I could get my cough under control.
I started back on the road and drove for a while and my cough started up again. This time, I was in road construction and there was only a single lane of traffic. I didn't dare pull over so I just tried to do the best I could to stay on the road. Up ahead, I could see a cop car kind of hiding behind a piece of equipment that was part of the construction crew. I looked down and saw that I was going 65 mph. I knew the speed was 55, but during my cough attack, I must have sped up. The cop started to pull out before I even passed him. He got behind me with his lights on and pulled me over. I was still coughing my head off when he walked up to the window. The first thing he said was, "Are you okay?" I said, "Well not really. I'm on the way to the doctor and I started coughing so bad that I must not have been paying attention." He proceeded to ask for my license, registration, and insurance, which I gave him. He went back to his car and I strategically placed my bag of cough drops on the passenger seat where he could see them, and my Kleenex and water bottle in my lap. I guess I was trying to prove to him that I was not lying about my coughing and trip to the doc.
He comes back to my window and I was kind of surprised, but he hands me a ticket. I asked him what to do next time I need to pull over in the construction zone and he says, "Just pull over." I asked him a few more questions about that and then before he walked away he tells me to "Drive Safe." So I said, "Well I was trying to, but when I started coughing so bad, I was just trying to drive straight..." and when I said the word "straight" tears started to well up in my eyes. As I was fighting back the tears, he walked back to his car and I pulled back onto the road. I realized he had pulled me over right at the end of the construction zone because the first thing I saw was a 75 mph sign. So I sped up and started to pass a car.
I admit that I cried a little bit. I was mad that cop was doing his job. I was mad that I had sped in a CONSTRUCTION ZONE so that increased my ticket to $91.50. I was mad that now after being pulled over, I was going to be late for my doctor's appointment. I was just getting ready to pull back into the right lane after passing a car when I looked in my mirror and saw this:
My first thought: YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!
So thoughts in my head go from, "He's not pulling ME over" to "What did I do wrong this time - did I speed up too fast before the 75 mph sign?!?!" So I slowly merge over to the right lane and HE follows me! AHHH! So I pull over and the cop car pulls up behind me and stops. I couldn't tell if it was the same cop or not. When he gets to my window, I see that it IS the same cop except for this time he is not wearing his ranger type police hat. He says, "I don't know what it is about you, but I'm just going to give you a warning today. If you'll hand that ticket back to me, I'll take care of it." WHAT!? Not only did I get pulled over and get a ticket, but he pulled me over AGAIN to take the ticket back!!
I couldn't wait to tell everyone my story - even the receptionist at the doctor's office got a good laugh out of it!
And by the way - the doctor is treating me for WALKING PNEUMONIA! Yikes!

The Show Must Go On
Last Monday, Cory and I took the kids to the circus. It was at the Madison County Fairgrounds in Rexburg and Kaleb had gotten 2 free kids tickets, so we figured we would use them. Little did we know that it was going to cost $16 for EACH adult to get in!! So $32, 1 box of popcorn, and 1 cotton candy later, we found some seats right in front of ring 3 to enjoy the show. We saw lots of different acts, including the ones pictured here:
In case you can't see, in this picture there are three guys on motorbikes riding inside the ball.
During the intermission, Cambree told us she wanted to ride the elephant. So Cory took her down to buy her ticket. They pack so many people on there, that there's not much room, but Cambree really liked it and loves to tell people that she rode an elephant!
Towards the end of the show, there were two guys performing on what they called "The Chiffons." There were 2 sets of fabric hanging from the top of the building that each the guy was climbing up on and doing tricks. The performer in ring 3 {right in front of us} wrapped each chiffon around his legs and the plan was to slide down the chiffons and when the fabric tightened around his legs, he would be hanging upside down with his legs kind of in the splits. Well he slid down and when his weight 'hit', the cable broke at the top of the building where it was hooked on. He fell about 20 feet and landed flat on his chest. {This was inside where they have rodeos, but all the dirt was scraped out so he landed on hard, packed dirt.} He lifted his head up and I thought for a second that he was going to get up. But then he put his head back down and just kind of started kicking his legs. By then, a bunch of people were running over to him. They stopped the other guy from finishing his act on the chiffons, but they just moved on to the next act and went on with the show. Of course, most people couldn't even watch the circus anymore, they just watched the paramedics work on this guy. They ended up putting him in an ambulance to take him to the hospital!! I never did hear anything more about him, but I'm sure he's probably back up doing his tricks in the next town. Because THE SHOW MUST GO ON!

Birthday at CHUCK E. CHEESE
Since we were in Boise for Kaleb's birthday, he wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate. He always sees it advertised on TV and he also found some coupons (gotta love it) that he said we could use! So, we went and ate pizza and played and played and played.
200 tokens later, we went back to Chad and Angie's to eat brownies and ice cream and let Kaleb open a couple presents.

Discovery Center of Idaho
On Saturday, we drove into Boise and went to the DISCOVERY CENTER OF IDAHO. If you've never heard of it, the best way I can decribe it is a hands-on museum full of science experiments. You can touch everything, so it's a great place to take kids. We spent a few hours there and I'm sure we didn't see everything there is to see.
One of the kids favorite things was this chair that you pull the rope and it hoists you up. Then when you let go, you come back down.
Here is Cory laying on a bed of nails!
They have a little kids Grocery Store where they can pick up a shopping list, get a mini shopping cart, and then go around and put pretend food in their carts. They even have a self check out that actually beeps when a barcode is scanned!
Isaac even got into the action. This beach ball was being kept up by air being blown underneath it. I love this picture because even his shadow is smiling!

It was a lot of fun!
